AME 2018
1枚の板を折ったり曲げたりすることで機能的な形が生まれます。
「AME」はこのシンプルな考え方を用いて1枚の板を折り曲げて照明を作りました。
表裏で色を変えた板を曲げることによって、
通常のランプシェードとは異なり隙間から漏れる明かりや、
明かりが当たる面によって変わる色の濃淡などを計算してデザインした
照明器具の提案です。
2歳の子供にこの照明を初めて見せた時に「AME」と言われてハッとした。
この照明の形が子供にとって傘に見えて、その全体の光景が雨に見えたのだろう。
傘は雨を遮り、照明のシェードは闇を遮る。
自分では見えなかった繋がりを子供に気付かされた。
傘をシェアした時、自然と体が寄り添うように
AMEの明かりの下でも互いの距離が自然と近づいていくような
時間を過ごせたらと思います。
【Concept】
A functional shape is born by folding or bending one board. This simple way of thinking creates the light, "AME (Rain)", as bending a single board. It is a proposal of a lighting equipment designed by calculating the light leaking from the gap and the color intensity depending on the angle the light. This makes a difference from an ordinary lampshade by folding a plate with different colors on the front and back.
【Behind-the-scenes story】
I was realized by my 2 years old child when she looked at this light fixture and called it "AME (Rain)". It was like an umbrella and the whole sight seemed to be rain. The umbrella blocks the rain and the shade of light shields the darkness. She made me aware of the link of the product which I was not really thinking of. It would be great to spend the time with close distance on each other under the light of "AME (Rain)", like when sharing an umbrella.
